The questions people actually type.
It depends on the card's likely grade and the price difference between raw and graded value at each grade level, net of the grading service's fee and turnaround time — a card that's likely to grade a 9 or 10 in a set with a large raw-to-graded price gap is more often worth grading than a common card with a small gap.
PSA's current published pricing runs from $79.99 (Regular, 70-80 business days) to $599 (Walk-Through, 7-10 business days) per card, with CGC and other services offering different price/turnaround tradeoffs.
Compare the asking price against real recent sold prices for that same card, condition, and grade — not just a general "market value" estimate — since asking prices on marketplaces are often higher than what cards actually sell for.
Raw value reflects the card ungraded; graded value depends on the specific grade assigned by a third-party service (like PSA, CGC, or TAG) and can vary significantly between grade levels — a PSA 10 can be worth many times more than the same card at PSA 8.
